Positive: The hotel was perfect for our two-night stopover for whale and dolphin watching and a snorkeling trip. We chose this simple, budget-friendly place with air conditioning and a pool because we arrived late the first day and spent most of the second day out. The beach, dive center for excursions, and several restaurants are just a few minutes’ walk away (highly recommend Trincomalee Thambi Italian Restaurant for pasta and Cafe on the 18th for coffee and cake). We mostly stayed at the beach, where there are a few free sunbeds at Fernando’s Market. The beach is lively and great for wave-jumping. The pool was clean, pleasantly warm, about 1m deep – perfect for my 7-year-old son. Expectations shouldn’t go beyond the description, but for what it offers it’s excellent. The “cinema” label felt a bit exaggerated – it seemed more like a living room with four big chairs and a medium-sized TV. Overall, very friendly staff and a great stay.
